Department Climate & Environment

Penn State University is committed to an open, sensitive, understanding, and responsive campus environment. The single most important key to opening the doors wider to all people is to create an environment in which everyone feels welcome. To do this, we must eliminate intolerance and harassment within what should be an enlightened community of faculty, staff and students.

Graham B. Spanier, President

The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering strongly supports the University's mission to creating an environment in which everyone feels welcome, is treated in a courteous manner, and fosters respect for others. The information contained within our Climate website is presented in support of this mission to ensure that all people are valued for the differences they bring to our Department, our classrooms, and offices.

It is equally important to not let incidences go unreported. Too many times we assume that someone else will report an incident and too many incidents often go unreported. Incidences may be reported through any one of the University offices listed within the websites but may also be reported within the Department to any of the following contacts:

Karen A. Thole, Deparment Head of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering
137 Reber Building, 865-2519, E-Mail

Gary Koopmann, Chair of the Mechanical and Nuclear
Engineering Environment Committee
