Penn State ANS Receives
Several Honors from ANS National
The Penn State student
section of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) has received
a number of honors from ANS National for their work during
the 2006-2007 school year. The ANS student section has reached
record high membership with approximately 50 active undergraduate
and graduate members. During the past year, Penn State ANS
has been involved in hosting a number of industry speakers
as well as serving as guides for numerous events such as
Engineering Open House and the Westinghouse Scholars program.
The section has also been very busy providing outreach to
the surrounding community through there Boy Scout Nuclear
Science Merit Badge Program which provided over 250 scouts
from around the state with the merit badge, this year alone.
Additionally, Penn State ANS was fortunate enough to be able
to sent 15 representatives to Oregon State University to
represent the University and present numerous papers at the
ANS Student Conference. As a result of their work during
the past year, Penn State ANS was awarded an honorable mention
to the Samuel Glasstone Award, which is presented annually
to the best student section, by ANS National. Additionally,
Penn State ANS also awarded 1 of 15 certificates of distinction
from ANS National which were given to student sections for
their work and contributions to the surrounding communities.
During the 2006-2007
school year, Penn State ANS was under the direction of President
Daniel J. Skilone and faculty advisor, Dr. Robert Edwards.

your tradition of excellence in the 2007-2008 school year.
