Filter System

The main filter is a UV PurGuard 8, which is designed to kill 99.9% of all bacteria and 99.99% of most types.  It is rated for flows up to 8 gallons per minute, but it will be run at only 3 gpm.  A slower flow rate decreases the likelihood of bacteria surviving.  In line with the UV is a 5 micron pre-filter followed by a 1 micron pre-filter.  Both filters remove sediment and other debris before the water enters the UV filter.  The UV is the finishing filter before the water enters the hot water tank.
