Remote Control Person Lift to Access a Model Agricultural Tractor
PSU Interdisciplinary Senior Design Projects
Spring 2001
Problem Overview:
Over the past thirty years, much attention
has been given to keeping people affected by disability meaningfully employed.
Agriculture did not receive this attention until more recently, but is
now moving toward accepting and returning people affected by a disability
to fulltime employment on their farm. These disabilities may be a
result of an illness or injury. Agriculture remains one of the most
dangerous occupations.
Farmers and farm family members often visit
agricultural shows throughout the year as not only a way to learn
new methods and products, but also as a social event to meet with sales
representatives and other farm families. At these events, a small
model tractor with a lift attached will gain the attention of farm family
members, and will garner an increase in the awareness of information and
technologies that may return a farm family member affected by a disability
to agricultural production. An agricultural tractor lift is used
so that a person who does not have the full use of his/her legs may still
gain access to the tractor's operator platform.
