Product Development and Testing
![]() Frame Materials and Production From research and consultation with material experts, 4130 steel was used for the frame of the design. Team Dynamic Movements conducted research on 4130 Chrome Moly Steel and found it to be common in wheelchair frames, bike frames, car frames and airplane parts. Square tubing was selected and purchased in order to make welding easier. This steel tubing was TIG welded. Armrest Material and Production The armrest of the design needed to be very sturdy and resistant to cracking and/or breaking. Lexan was used for the armrest because it provides much more stability than Plexiglas. The Lexan was then cut out into the armrest dimensions using the bandsaw. Powder Coating In order to get a professional and durable finish, our team decided ot get the unit powder coated. This painting method is used to prevent corrosion of the metal and to protect it from the outside elements. Cosmetics In order to make the device safe, the armrest was wrapped in foam and then covered with a durable material. Other additions include pockets for Baby K's icons and a washable cover for the seat.
Testing of the completed MSU II has not taken place due to the availability of our client, Baby K. Baby K has recently undergone an unexpected surgery and is currently immobilized.
