Joystick

The goal of the Joystick option for steering is to expose those children with higher skill levels to the joystick at an earlier age. The joystick used for the project is the same that appears on many motorized wheel chairs. Thusly, the Leaper becomes a teaching tool for using joystick for motorized movement. Training can commence even before the child has a wheelchair of their own.

In order to adapt the joystick, intermediate circuitry was designed. As shipped, the joystick used on the project had only 2 signals for direction. The vehicle uses 4 signal lines. The intermediate circuit uses voltage comparators to discern the 2 signals into the desired 4.
