The goal of this project was to design and build an apparatus for testing the strength of various types of tippet line.  Once the apparatus was constructed, various types of tippet line were to be tested to determine their respective breaking strengths.  The tippet needed to be strength-tested both statically (simulating the dead weight of a fish) and dynamically (simulating a fighting fish).

The group consisted of five senior Penn State Mechanical Engineering Students:

Project Sponsor:  Dr. John Lamancusa of The Pennsylvania State University Mechanical Engineering Department

Faculty Coach:  Leland Engel
