Under
the direction of Drs. Jack Brenizer and C.
Frederick Sears, Penn State led a successful
effort to form a consortium consisting of, now five, Big
Ten nuclear engineering programs-Penn State, Purdue, Illinois,
Wisconsin, and Ohio State-in support of Innovations in
Nuclear Infrastructure and Education (INIE). Our consortium
receives the support of both industry and national laboratories.
Our partners include: Dominion Generation, Exelon Corporation,
Framatome ANP, Nuclear Management Corporation, Westinghouse
Electric Company, Argonne National Laboratory, Idaho National
Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratories.
Our goal is to establish a leading organization for reactor-based
research, outreach and next generation University Research
Training Reactors (URTR) design in the United States .
