Fracture of a tooth showing a typical fatigue failure starting at the fillet in the surface at 40 degrees to the end of the pinion. There is some suggestion of a "woody" macrostructure in the failed surface. Visual examination at 20x with a binocular microscope gives an illusion of an undercut at the fillet. (5x)
