EMCL Facilities and Capabilities

The EMCL includes a range of characterization equipment for testing multifunctional properties of polymers, nanocomposites and active materials.

Thin Film Processing

Thin film processing in the ECML

Processing of polymer films:

Differential Scanning Calorimeter: TA DSC Q2000

The DSC in the EMCL

Measures:

  • Phase transition temperatures
  • Heat flows associated with thermal transitions

Equipped with 50 positions autosampler

Temperature range: -90°C to 400°C

Equipped with modulated DSC

Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer: TA RSA-G2

The Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer in the EMCL

Measures:

  • Storage modulus
  • Loss modulus
  • Tan σ

Dual/Single Cantilever, 3-Point Bend, Shear Sandwich, Compression, Tension, Submersible Clamps

Temperature range: -150°C to 600°C

Frequency range: 0.02mHz to 100 Hz

Fume Hood

Using the fume hood in the ECML
