Capstone Design Sponsorship

Get involved with ME students on campus. By sponsoring a capstone design project, your company can:

  • Contribute to the educational value of the department
  • Use the skills and talents of Penn State students
  • Gain visibility among future graduates

Industry-based design projects provide engineering students with the opportunity to apply their technical knowledge to real-world problems. The experience helps students bridge the gap between their academic and professional careers by exposing them to the technical demands, potential pitfalls, and professional expectations of practicing engineers.

Since 1995, industry-sponsored projects have continued to make a significant difference in educational programming in the mechanical engineering department at Penn State. Seniors in ME culminate their rigorous education by executing a real-world, hands-on project defined by an industry sponsor. These design teams work closely with industry sponsors to solve product or process design problems.

Sponsors provide financial support and project mentoring and have consistently reported a high degree of satisfaction with the project results.
