Ounaies named ASME Fellow

Zoubeida Ounaies, Dorothy Quiggle Career Developmental Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State, was named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
The fellow grade is the highest elected level of membership in ASME. Fellowship is conferred upon a member with at least 10 years of active engineering practice and who has made significant contributions to the profession. Ounaies is one of only 3,492 fellows out of more than 131,000 ASME members.
ASME specifically cited Ounaies’ extensive record of leadership and service to ASME as well as her research contributions in the development and characterization of mechanical-electrical-chemical coupling in polymers and polymer nanocomposites, and applications to advanced sensor and actuator systems.
Ounaies has co-authored over 120 articles in journals, books and conference proceedings, and seven U.S. patents. In addition to ASME, she is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Materials Research Society and the International Society for Optical Engineering. In 2007, Ounaies received a National Science Foundation CAREER grant.Share this story:
